On2 - On30 - On3 Billerica & Bedford Turntable
The kit is based on drawings from the 1879 Railroad Gazette article on the 2' gauge B&B RR and as 2ft described by the late Dick Andrews in the NG&SLG. This quality craftsman kit includes spincast resin, basswood, and metal parts to build this little 18' (4-1/2") diameter turntable. This little gem would be great as a small industrial or logging turntable for On2, On30, or On3. It is a great way to turn "critters" and tiny locos like the Bachmann (TM) Porter 0-4-0 and 0-4-2 and side rod gas mechanical. It can be fit into the tiniest bit or real estate on your model layout.
The kit features a cast resin base with the ties cast in place. The ties have plates cast on the top surface that allow easy mounting of the pit rail. The bridge features cast resin end beams that interlock with the bridge beams making construction fairly easy. Grandt Line nut/washers are included for detailing the bridge beams. This is a hand turned turntable though it has a 3/32 shaft that you can attach a drive unit to. The pine ties will accommodate On2, On30, and On3 gauges though the original was 2 ft gauge. Just add glue, paint, your hook-up wire and a bit of craftsmanship and you should have a very interesting little turntable.
